This unpaved road has never been clear
No signs ever emanated from the gravel
Grass gone, muted dried trees finally bowing
Even Huitzilopochtli silenced hummingbirds
Valley’s drew me northeast then southwest
Evaporated water kept a mouth barren
clumsily dissipating aspirations of arriving
Shadows of people floated by adobe walls
Glares of grass capped mountains gone as
photophobic eyes are alarmed by the fact
that there were no answers in this place
